Where I started

I grew up close to a strict religious world, and for years I knew something was wrong without knowing how to change it.

I'm a woman who has had to find her own voice, work through the past, and learn that I can love my family while still choosing what's healthy for me. Today, I hope people see the person behind the story: a wife, a mom, a woman of faith, and someone who wants to use her experiences to help others feel less alone.

My story, year by year

2008–2015: Growing up on TV. I grew up close to my cousins’ world on TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting, appearing across all 10 seasons and 109 episodes. On camera, I was cast as “Crazy Cousin Amy.”
2015: Married Dillon. I married Dillon King in 2015. Our love isn’t perfect, but it’s real, and today we build LOUDER together.
2017 · January: Marriage Boot Camp. Dillon and I joined Season 7 of WE tv’s Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars to learn to communicate better. It was hard, honest work, and it made us stronger.
2017 · June: Married One Year. TLC’s special Amy & Dillon: Married One Year followed our first anniversary: a trip to Tulum, DIY renovations at home, and my 30th birthday.
2023 · June: Shiny Happy People. Prime Video’s Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets looked at my family and the Institute in Basic Life Principles. I shared what the shiny facade didn’t show.
2025 · July: Shiny Happy People, Season 2. I returned for “Acquire the Fire,” the first episode of Shiny Happy People: A Teenage Holy War, as the series turned to the Teen Mania youth movement.
2025: Holy Disruptor. My memoir with Zondervan tells how I found my voice and set boundaries to break cycles of generational trauma. It hit #1 in three Amazon categories.
2026: LOUDER. I turned the process I used to rebuild into LOUDER, an app for anyone working through their own story. It starts with a free five-question quiz that shows how you lean.

My full bio

I grew up appearing on TLC's 19 Kids and Counting, part of my extended family's television story. I grew up close to a strict religious world, and for years I knew something was wrong without knowing how to change it.

In 2023 I appeared in the Prime Video documentary series Shiny Happy People, and again in its second season. In 2025 I told my own story in Holy Disruptor: Shattering the Shiny Facade by Getting Louder with the Truth (Zondervan). It became a #1 bestseller in three Amazon categories, and I read the audiobook myself.

Today I use my voice to encourage anyone who wants to be free of dysfunctional families, toxic situations or cycles of abuse. I've written devotionals for the YouVersion Bible App, and I speak at events, retreats and churches.

I'm also the founder of LOUDER, the process I used to rebuild, now an app for anyone. It starts with a free five-question quiz that shows how you lean when life gets loud. Dillon and I are also launching the LOUDER Podcast: long, honest weekly conversations about faith, healing and finding your voice.
