This book was an amazing testament of strength and faith. Amy gives the reader personal insight into her past, giving hope that no matter what you’ve experienced, anyone can overcome and stop the cycle of abuse from happening again. This is not a tell-all/bash the famous side of her family, but a look into the private family events that everyone dealt with. And how sometimes one member has to stand up and say “enough!”

Amy is so raw and vulnerable in this book. It was so encouraging to read how she is surviving emotional abuse and know that there are others in the boat with me. I appreciate that she included an educational element on abuse (what types there are and tips that worked well for her). I’m getting ready to re-read it and this time, will be with my Bible. This was excellent! I read it in one day because I couldn’t put it down. It offers a very insightful look into Jim Bob’s side of the family (which is also Amy’s family) and the recurring patterns within it. The book builds on what’s already been revealed, especially in Jill’s book, by adding deeper background information into the family as a whole and a fresh perspective from someone who sometimes viewed things from the outside looking in and at other times was just as immersed in all of it as the 19 kids. Overall, it’s a unique and much-needed insight into both Amy’s story and the larger Duggar family story.
